Other Pain & Injuries

Soft tissue injuries such as muscle, ligament and tendon injuries, are also common presentations at our clinic. We tailor our approach to the individual. Together, we figure out the root of the problem and develop a personal treatment plan that will improve comfort, increase strength and reduce the risk of injury recurrence.

Sports Injuries

Sports are our passion at Mid West Physiotherapy. We know how vital it is to stay fit and strong, and just how frustrating it can feel to be sidelined by injury. We’ll pull out all the stops to get you back playing the sport you love, focusing on getting you strong and minimising the risk of injury recurrence.

Rehab After Surgery

In many cases, surgery is just the beginning of the recovery process; in order to optimise the speed and success of your recovery, a careful post-surgical rehabilitation programme will be required. Our expert Physiotherapists are highly skilled and experienced in treating post-operative patients.

Orthotics

Orthotics work by adjusting the loads through our foot and ankle. Their primary function is to reduce pain, improve comfort & enhance our ability to walk, work or exercise. They achieve this by directing load through the bigger, stronger muscle groups and joints, and relieving load on the smaller, weaker areas.

Vestibular Rehabilitation (Vertigo)

Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based treatment programme which is specifically designed to reduce issues relating to imbalance and dizziness, commonly known as “vertigo”. Rachel Allen, vestibular rehabiltation physiotherapist, specialises in the assessment and treatment of vertigo and dizzy symptoms.

Parkinsons disease

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological condition that affects people’s movements. It is caused by a decrease in a chemical called dopamine in the body. It is not known why some people get this drop in dopamine. People with Parkinson’s may have a tremor; difficulty walking, stepping or balancing; or slower movements.

Falls Prevention Programmes

Falls prevention programmes can help anyone with decreased mobility or balance. Physiotherapists are experts at evidence-based falls prevention. The HSE recommends people who have fallen be assessed for falls prevention. Two-thirds of Irish people who have had a fall, have another fall within six months.

Lymphoedema

Lymphodema occurs when the lymphatic system is is damaged by surgery, cancer radiotherapy or other conditions.  Sinéad Cobbe is a highly experienced expert Chartered Physiotherapist and trained specialist in the management of lymphoedema.
